Superchargers Claim The Hundred Crown - Regina Suddahazai
The 2025 Women’s Hundred Final at Lord’s was a day women’s cricket will never forget! In front of a record-breaking 22,500 fans, the Northern Superchargers lifted their first ever title, ending the dominance of Georgia Adams’ Southern Brave with a seven-wicket victory.
The Brave never found their rhythm with the bat, posting 115 after a superb opening burst from Kate Cross, who struck early to remove two key wickets. “We came here believing this could be our year,” Cross said. “To walk off with the trophy, in front of the biggest women’s Hundred crowd ever, is something I’ll treasure forever.”
The chase was steady but assured. Nicola Carey held her nerve with an unbeaten 35, before Annabel Sutherland sealed the win in style, smashing a massive six to spark scenes of celebration. Australia’s Phoebe Litchfield, who finished the tournament as the leading run scorer, was deservedly named Player of the Series.
But perhaps the story of the tournament belonged to 18- year-old Davina Perrin. Just a day earlier during the Eliminator at the Oval, she played one of the greatest innings women’s cricket has seen! A groundbreaking 42 ball century that propelled the Superchargers into the final and marked her as one of the brightest young talents in the game. I’m sure we will be seeing more from Perrin very soon… Perhaps in an England shirt?
The atmosphere inside Lord’s reflected more than just a final. It was about a movement. Over the 2025 season, more than 349,000 fans attended the women’s competition, a global record for women’s cricket. Since its launch in 2021, The Hundred has been a trailblazer, one of the first competitions to equal prize money, equal billing alongside the men’s competition, and double-header matchdays that have given women’s cricket the platform it deserves.
For players, it’s career defining. For fans, it’s inspiring. And for young girls in the stands or watching on TV, it’s proof that women’s sport belongs on the biggest stages.
As Cross put it: “We’re not just part of the game anymore, we’re helping lead it.”
The 2025 Women’s Hundred Final was more than a trophy lift. It was a celebration of progress, talent and a future where girls can dream as big as they want! Women’s cricket is only getting bigger and bigger… Bring on the Women’s World Cup!
