The Vitality Blast ... By Regina Suddahazai
The Vitality Blast. Is this the next best thing for women’s cricket?

The Hundred competition saw the introduction to double headers where the female hundred teams were able to play in front of large crowds in quality grounds.
There’s no doubt that the equal coverage the men’s and women’s game got on social media has helped the women’s game grow and now with the introduction of the Women’s T20 Vitality Blast, there is the momentum to grow even more so. For example, Surrey Women are now getting to play at the packed Kia Oval before the men’s game creating a larger spirit of one club and more eyes on the women’s game.
The Hundred welcomed many international players such as Elyse Perry, Amelia Kerr and Hayley Matthews and many of these players have indeed signed contracts for the Blast. Already there is a a want to play in the Blast leagues and domestic cricket in England meaning the best display of women’s cricket is to be shown.
The ECB has put in great effort to ensure there is also more of a social media covering of the women’s game too. Many counties have developed TikTok accounts and their own instagrams to increase their presence even more.
It is argued however these socials accounts should not be created as solo. All supposed to be in the spirit of one county and club? Either way, we’re able to see personalities shine just that little bit more through social media building more of a fan base of individual players and ultimately, more of a love for Women’s cricket.
Make sure you’re watching all you can during this block of the Vitality Blast!
