Joey Gamper Cuthbert’s CV

Joey Gamper Cuthbert is a bestselling author (“Squad Safe: A Practical Guide to Athlete Welfare and Culture Change in Cheerleading”), educator and safeguarding advocate.

She is a former dancer, cheer athlete, head coach, programme owner and national team manager (ICU World Cheerleading Championships 2016 and 2017), she currently Chairs the Board at SportCheer England (the national governing body for the sport of Cheerleading in England) and sits at the international governance level on the Ethics and Entourage Committees.

Joey's mission is to transform dance and performance sport by centring athlete welfare, driving culture change, and equipping coaches, leaders, and organisations with the tools to build safer, more inclusive, and high-performing environments. Through training, consultancy, and advocacy—grounded in the principles of Squad Safe—she empowers the cheerleading, dance, and gymnastics communities to lead with integrity, prioritise wellbeing, and create spaces where young people can truly thrive.
