Netball
London Pulse (pictured above credit Associated Press) made history by winning their first Netball Super League title at the weekend, defeating defending champions Loughborough Lightning 53-45 in the 2025 Grand Final at the O2 Arena.
In front of a record-breaking crowd, Pulse overcame an early deficit, taking control after the first quarter and maintaining their lead throughout the match.
The game was tightly contested in the opening stages, with both teams struggling to find their rhythm, but Pulse’s defense, led by Halimat Adio, consistently disrupted Lightning’s attack.
The super shot - an addition to this competition - came into play in a key moment with Olivia Tchine sinking a crucial Super Shot to give Pulse a four-goal lead at the first break.
Was this tournament a success?
The final was the largest ticketed netball event ever, beating World Cup and Commonwealth Games matches.
On average, there was a 42% increase in attendance at matches.
For the first time, all games were televised on BBC and Sky Sports.
Congratulations London Pulse on the win and England Netball on a breakthrough netball tournament!

The sun has been shining down on SW19 this past week and the Brits have been producing some great results across singles and doubles.
The standout singles player has been Sonay Kartal, the British number 3 and current ranked 51 in the WTA rankings. Sonay reached the fourth round after claiming impressive wins over Jelena Ostapenko, Viktoriya Tomova, and Diane Parry. She was defeated by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in a close battle on her Centre Court debut - a performance she’ll be proud of.

Three players remain in the junior singles event, Mimi Xu (above), Hannah Klugman (below) and Ruby Cooling and will be vying for a place in the quarterfinals.
Another notable result includes
Eden Silva’s run to the mixed doubles quarterfinals with partner Josh Paris where they lost out to experienced doubles players Katerina Siniakova and Sem Verbeek.

What a first week of the Euros!
England had a dismal start to their Euros campaign, with a lackluster performance against an excellent French side.
Whilst the first five minutes or so looked promising, with shots from Lauren James and a goal from Russo which was eventually ruled offside, France gained momentum and confidence which culminated in two goals before halftime from Katoto and Baltimore.
The defence looked sloppy and midfield was overrun as England struggled to keep shape against strong French attacks down the wings. There were promising signs in some of England’s attacks, with Walsh finally finding the net at 86 minutes, but the Lionesses were unable to produce a draw in the remaining time.
Weigman has some rethinking to do before their game against the Netherlands later today. Whether she changes the lineup remains to be seen, however the team needs to put the loss behind them and focus on remaining positive for their last two games.
The 2-1 defeat means that their next two games are must-wins if England want to get out of the group stages and progress to the quarter finals.

Wales
Wales’ historic debut at the Euros ended in a 3-0 defeat to the Netherlands in Lucerne.
Vivianne Miedema opened the scoring with her 100th international goal just before half-time, giving the Dutch a crucial lead. The Netherlands extended their advantage early in the second half, scoring two goals.
Despite spirited defending and strong support from 3,800 travelling Welsh fans, Rhian Wilkinson’s side struggled to contain the 2017 champions’ attacking quality. Wales will look to regroup quickly as they prepare for their next Group D fixture against France tonight.

England kept the T20 series alive with a dramatic five-run win against India at The Oval, holding their nerve in a tense final over.
Sophia Dunkley starred with a rapid 75 as England posted 171/9, while Deepti Sharma’s 3/27 kept the hosts in check. India’s chase was anchored by Smriti Mandhana, but they faltered in the last five overs, finishing just short at 166/5.
With the series now at 2-1 in India’s favour, the stage is set for a thrilling finish in Manchester and Birmingham. Both teams have shown flashes of brilliance, but England’s late surge has reignited hopes of a comeback on home soil.
